here comes santa...

wow.  seems like the weather is ready for the big guy in the red suit to come.  this is a card i made on my stamping trip to indiana.  what a great time we all had.  4 days of stamping with friends, lots of laughing and crafting.  learning new ways to roast marshmallows!  awesome!  one of the shackies posted a link on using craft ink and a watercolor pen (i used a blender pen) so you could use white ink on kraft.  i love the effect.  i used it on santa's beard (and i used it on the snow in yesterday's post).  i also {love} the jillibean soup paper!  for the twill, i just gathered it in certain spots and stapled it.

in the meadow...

we can build a snowman...or not.  since it isn't snowing.  but a group of us whipped out a circle journal of a different kind.  instead of circling, everyone sent me their pages and i swapped them out.  which saved about 5 months time and who knows how much postage.  at first i wasn't thrilled with the idea...i liked getting each individual journal in my hands and trying to decide what i wanted to create.  with this swap, i made my design, then just repeated it seven more times.  i love how it turned out.  and i love that i wasn't stressing about getting a journal in the mail every three weeks.  only problem now is i need to make the actual journal part!  so i can put all the awesome snowman pages in.  when i do, i'll post pictures of the finished project.

happy fall...

ahhh...fall is in the air.  the mornings and evenings are getting cooler.  the sun is rising later.  i love fall.  if i could only have two seasons, i'd take spring and fall.  summer, eh.  winter...forget it!  so for now i'll enjoy the not so hot days and the smell of fall.  this is another 'reject' that i made.  i {love} how it turned out.  i actually paper pieced the pumpkin and dress.  played with another digi stamp, too.  good times!

slice or two...

happy independance day!! nothing says 4th of july like a big slice of watermelon!! i made these for the watermelon (go figure!) atc swap i hosted. please remember why we celebrate this holiday and the freedom we have. and my psa for the holiday weekend: wear your seat belts. wear a helmet if you are on anything with two wheels (or and atv!) or a skate board. watch your kids around any body of water (no matter how small you might think it is) and don't assume someone else is watching them...especially if they can't swim. it's not worth it otherwise. i love my job, but that doesn't mean we need to be busy we people who aren't being careful! thank you.

now go have a big slice of watermelon today!

wedding cards...

i've decided i'm not great at wedding cards. a lady at work asked me to make her a couple and i've been stumped. i've put it off long enough so i had to get them done. i made two different styles, a cutesy one and a prettier one. in the second one, i paper pieced the couple and used a glaze pen to highlight some of the flourishes.

thread of love...

time for friends with flair friday! is it really friday already? i can't believe how fast this week has flown by (but yet how slowly at the same time). i can't believe that work gets so in the way of my crafting! but i guess if there wasn't work, there wouldn't be crafts to play with. i've done the 9-5 (ok, 8-4) gig this week at work (doing the schedule) and all i can say is i love my usual schedule of three 12 hour shifts. i realized last night that i needed to get this done so i could post in today. i had great intentions all week, but somehow it got put aside. but this weekend i hope to have craft-o-palooza in my little studio!! i paper pieced the spool of thread. this is actually an atc for a swap my friend suzi is hosting. i just haven't finished the whole set yet, like i usually take a picture of.

don't forget the rest of the blog hop starts at the {unity blog} ! thank goodness for friday!

childhood summer...

sometimes people ask me if i scrapbook. i usually just laugh. i am definitely not a scrapbooker. i've tried. can't do it. this is the best i can do at an attempt of scrapbooking. it's for the summer circle journal (that is swiftly coming to a close). this is my entry for joanne's cj. she wanted something about our favorite childhood summer memories.

speaking of childhood, and not having one if it weren't for my cute dad being born, i'd like to wish him a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

happy birthday, dad!!

what's up?

i figured that if i make a few dollars selling cards, i should be able to buy more supplies. right? so i made a little archiver's run today. armed with a 30% off coupon and a quest to get some new unity stamps, i came out with a little more than i went in for. but isn't that always the case? i also did a quick and cute make 'n take while i was there. it was so cute, i case'd it and made this atc for christie's riley swap. i also used some new embossing powder that was a cool color of brown, chestnut. i'm not usually one for colored ep, but i loved it on the orange.

celebrate sunshine part ii...

my friend leeann wanted to buy some cards. she choose the celebrate sunshine atc that i made. i simply put it on a card base rather than reinventing the wheel. i think it makes the card more elegant looking with the simple white background.

celebrate sunshine...

let me start this post off by saying i'm am so not a girlie girl. i don't even own a dress. i've never had high heels. i don't even wear makeup (dressing up to me is khaki's and lip gloss). but i do adore this new stamp set from dear lizzy+american crafts. it's the cutest thing ever. i used it to make the "anything pink" themed atcs for suzi's swap. i just can't get enough of the cute little set of flags!
