city of love...

so i stepped out of my comfort zone a little and signed up for a swap that i really had no idea how to do.  i guess there is a kind of stamps called stampscapes and you create little scenes with them.  well, i didn't exactly have any, so i asked lori (the hostess of the swap) if i could just make a little scene.  i think you are supposed to use a brayer and different colors of ink to blend the background together, so i played around with that, too.  here's what came out of my little experiement.  it was kinda fun, although i'm not great with the brayer.  i'm having a hard time with it being only one layer, but i'll live with it!!

city of love
stamps:  unity
cardstock: glossy white
ink: onyx black, broken china distress, soft sky, baja breeze, blue bayou

scrapfest...

this weekend, there is this little event going on in minnesota called scrapfest.  i think it's held at the biggest mall in amarica because there's no other place that could hold an event of this size.  craft peeps  gather and have one ginormous party.

five years ago, a group of girls decided to get together at this event.  we had all met through the shack, an online community about the hobby we love.  a few people were going to go to scrapfest, so we thought what a great place to get together and meet in real life!  it was one of the most awesome trips i have ever gone on and i met some of the most amazing people in my life.  luckily, to this day, they are some of my best friends!  we have made getting together an annual event (with some years doing it 2-3 times!).  we are doing it again in just a few weeks.   i can't wait!!!

eyes, soul, heart...

there's a new {ippity} challenge going on.  you know you want to play.  what could you win if you do??  a $20 gift certificate to the {ippity} chick of your choice!  who doesn't want $20 in free {ippity} lovelies???

the theme for this challenge is "fall."  it doesn't have to be something about autumn leaves and pumpkins, per se.  just something that is inspired by fall.  i used colors from fall to make my card.  i found this awesome my mind's eye patterned paper pad when i was moving my craft room (go figure...something got lost!) and it has some awesome paper in it.  so i grabbed a few pieces and went from there.  i love finding stamps that haven't spoken to me before.  this sentiment jumped into my head when i was creating the base.  i love it!  i made the faux-ribbon using  paper and a stamp from the new set gingham christmas greetings.

eyes, soul, heart
stamps:  ippity
cardstock: riding hood red, early espresso, tangerine tango, walnut cream, my mind's eye pp
ink: soft suede, walnut stain distress, old paper distress

now go get crafty, create something that fall has inspired, visit the {ippity} challenge blog (clickie, clickie) and post away!!  you can't win if you don't play!!
and...
as an added bonus, i will throw in my own little {ippity} goodie bag for those that play.  leave a comment with the link to your entry here and i'll pick a random winner.  you have until 9/24/11 to do it.  what are you waiting for???

birthday cookies...

i usually don't like to post about foodie things i make...but i wanted to show my most favorite cookies in the whole world.  i made them to take to a little celebration tonight!

edited to add the recipe!!

single batch:
  • 1 devils food cake mix (pictured is the best brand...no name doesn't turn out as tasty)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup oil
mix together. drop on cookie sheet (i use a melon baller...perfect size every time!). bake for 7 minutes @ 350.   stuff with frosting of your choice. my friend nicole gave me the recipe and she uses cream cheese frosting (bleck.) i use buttercream frosting (i cheat and get it at the bakery) and add a touch of mint flavoring.

three times...

way back in april when my crafties got together (that's my new term for my crafting friends...my crafties!) for spring palooza, we decided it would be cool to have a wizard of oz atc swap.  ok, i guess i shouldn't say we, since i didn't really have the idea, but somehow i ended hosting it!!!  anyway, the 13 of us came up with 18 different things that went along with the wizard of oz.  i picked two of them.  here is one, which obviously is the ruby slippers.  i'll post the other set later.  the whole set ended up being awesome.  cooler than i could have imagined!!  and to think i didn't even want to play!  i also tried a new cool technique where you print on washi tape.  love it!!

what a week it's been. so very glad it's over.  but this weekend brings the end to summer.  labor day.  where did the summer go so fast!

i participated in a little challenge that thanh, from yummy creations, hosted called 'destash the past'.  she went through her stash of supplies and made a little kit that the participants had to used to create something. this is what we were given to use.

i created a regular sized card and two mini-cards.  it's fun and quite a challange to think outside the box when you have a limited supply of resources to use.  i used one of my favorite {ippity} sets on the big card, the best.  thanks for the fun challenge, thanh!!
