do lunch...

the thing i love about ordering stamps from unity (other than the obvious...they are so damn cute!) is you get a little free surprise in each order. they are so awesome.  makes ripping open your order fun to see what you got.  it the latest order i received, it had some pieces of cardstock.  now if i were to see this cardstock, i probably would have never picked it out to use.  but when i saw it together, it just screamed "use me"!  i paired it with this stamp.  because i think the cardstock is so nice and pretty and this stamp gives the impression that it is so nice and pretty, then it makes you totally belly laugh. so at first glance you are like "what a pretty card" then you read it and it's hilarious.  or maybe that's just how my crazy mind works.  regardless, i love the freebies that are included with my stamps!!

be there...

how long has it been since i've participated in friends with flair??  who knows!  but i decided to today.  this card was inspired by one of the emails that angela sends out for unity with the awesome tips on quick cards.  it's sparked something in my brain.  i keep thinking taking time to make a card needs to be this big long process.  not.the.case.  i watched  one of the quick video tips, came up to my room and made a quick card.  I NEED TO DO THAT MORE OFTEN!!!  hope you have a great weekend!!

heart...

this inspiration wednesday was a little deceiving.  it seemed so simple when donna made it.  but it was difficult for me for some reason.  it's the first time i actually started over.  probably not my favorite journal entry, but i do love the middle part.  made another stencil for this one, too.

pink forest...

catching up again with inspiration wednesday!  this was such a fun journal page to do.  it has a bunch of office tags layered on the background and it give it a ton of texture.  i love how the colors turned out, so bright and cheery.  the inclusion is a little grungier that i had hoped, but i still like the effect.  i used a color i never thought i would ever use, gold.  it doesn't show up as good in the picture, but it gives a really cool effect.  i didn't have the stencil, so once again, good old silhouette cameo to the rescue.  just typed up a bunch of thoughts and made my own!

beauty in the fight...

one of my dear friends had been given a courageous battle to fight.  she just started treatment a month or so ago against breast cancer.  i figured this was the best way to jump start my lack of card making lately and start flooding her mailbox with a little bit of something to hopefully put a smile on her face for a minute or two.  at least let her know that i'm thinking of her and she isn't alone in this battle.  i also asked my card making friends to help out.  and they have done an awesome job!

i have to laugh at this picture.  i'm so out of practice from making cards and putting them on my blog that i forgot to take a decent picture!  took a quick snapshot before i mailed it!

beauty...

another inspiration wednesday is in the books. i'm a few weeks behind, posting this one. better late than never right?  when i watched this video, i was like "what the what?!?"  and thought there was no way i could do it.  then i got into the nitty gritty and it was a lot easier than i thought!  this is by far the messiest one, yet.  the orange/yellow bird is actually a "skin" of molding paste.  such a cool thing to make!!  now i need to catch up!!

be yourself...

gee, that title sounds deep.  it isn't really.  just a stamp on this page so i thought i would make it the name!  this is week 4 of inspiration wednesday (orignal was on 2.18.15) but i'm a slow poke.  i've been way under the weather and it took a while to get these pages done and posted.  but better late than never!  at least it's before the next class, right?!?

like all the past weeks, i was watching the class and wondering what on earth i was going to do for this one.  then i just pretty much started going and didn't stress about it. i didn't have any stencils with words, so i made my own with the silhouette.  easy peasy.

create pt 2.

week three of inspiration wednesday is in the books.  i love (ok, i really don't...but...) how each week i think it can't get any more beyond my comfort zone. wow! this week took the cake. it all felt so like nothing i have ever done before. and after each step i had to just hope it would turn out ok. i kept taking pictures along to way to remind me how after each layer what it looked like.  because i was convinced it was going to turn out awful!  i'm amazed at the final product.  i only wish i would have remembered i used the word "create" on the previous page.  oh well!  it is what it is!  i definitely created!!

create...

this is week 2 in my inspiration journal.  i haven't done a ton with collage, so this was a big stretch of outside my comfort zone.  i also really don't love butterflies, but i wanted to use the tissue paper i had because it had cool printed images.  and i have to say i love how the butterfly looks on the page!  i also got to use one of the new totally tracy stamps!  there is a lot going on here, but i'm happy with the result.

inspiration journal...

i've been fascinated with the concept of mixed media for a couple of years now.  part of the reason i fell in love with it was watching inspiration wednesday by donna downey.  every wednesday she would post a video of her doing a page in her journal.  her process from start to finish.  (see more here) i've learned a lot and have been amazed at what she can create.  this year, she mixed it up a bit and now it's more a class where you make your own inspiration journal and do a page every other week.

i actually braved it and sewed my own journal.  turned out pretty ok, despite some crooked lines of sewing. but i think it gives it a little character!

this is my first page, which i incorporated my one little word of 2015.  i actually used my silhouette to make the stencil for the word "brave" and the little bird.

brave...

look at that.  it's been 10 months since i've done anything on my blog.  but it definately has not been 10 months since i've gotten crafty.  a lot has changed since then.  sold a house, moved in with the parentals for the summer. bought a new house and moved in to probably what is as near to my dream house as is possible at this point in my life.  so i wasn't able to do much craftiness for a while last summer, but i've started up again after getting my new crafty space in a working condition (notice i didn't say "completed condition"!)

anywhoo...a new year brings a new one little word.  and here is my word for twenty*fifteen.  brave.  this is in my mixed media journal.

so happy new year, happy crafting and maybe i'll brush the dust off the old blog more often now!!
