row houses...

holy cow. can you believe it is the last day of 2010?? this has been a repeated question the past few months, but where the freak has this year gone? tomorrow is twenty-eleven. how did that happen?? when i was little, i thought that the year 2011 would never appear. and now it's less than 24 hours away. c.r.a.z.y. so it's new years eve. and friday. which means friends with flair. woot woot!! i made today's creation during a dreary, freezing, snowy day. all the while wishing i could see some cute birds visiting their little houses in the sunshine. fat chance of that for a while!!! oh well...a girl can dream. this set of atcs is for a swap sherri is hosting.  i used the cute birdhouse stamp from the feb 2010 kotm.  be sure and check out the rest of the fwf posts today, starting back at the unity blog.

everyday...

it's h{ippity} hop time!  what's h{ippity} hop you ask?  just a friendly little blog hop where {ippity} stamps are used.  did you all survive the holiday weekend of festiveness?  hope so.  i had an amazing holiday.  i made this card thinking this is good advice for every day!!  it's kind of a card on a card.  not your typical card that opens.  it's a flat card base and the white center section lifts up with a place to write a message.  i was thinking a little outside the box on this one.  be sure to hop on through the rest of the creations, starting at the {ippity} blog

that's what has been going on all over the world.  halls are being decked, presents are being wrapped.  i can't believe christmas is saturday!  ho ho ho!!  i had a flurry of crafting to get done before the big day (i've been a little slackish on getting my swaps out quickly!)  this is for sherri's "it's a wreath" atc swap.

trivets...

a few weeks ago, i posted some coasters that i made from tile. i sold a few to a friend from work. she was asking if i made any that were bigger, that could be used as a trivet (you know the things you put pots or hot dishes from the oven on to protect the counter/table). i hadn't thought about it, but told her i probably could. she wanted some to give as gifts and asked if i could make them with dogs on them. so...after borrowing a few dog stamps from chelsea and suzi, this is what i came up with. i made a total of 8, but these are my favorite ones.

sweets...

so yesterday, i got to spend the day with my cute mom.  we didn't make any crafty things of the card or stamping variety.  but we did make a whole lot of sweetness.  approximately 160 pieces of chocolaty caramely pretzely goodness.  first you get pretzel rods.  then you dunk them in caramel and them cool.  next they get a bath in white chocolate.  when that's cooled, fling some colored white chocolate on them to make them all festive.  i'm a firm believer that white chocolate is a waste of time...kinda like vanilla ice cream.  we've tried these with both white chocolate and milk chocolate and i have to admit the white chocolate are definitely better.

i'm in a swap with sherri.  the theme for the atcs is elves.  i saw this "be your best elf" stamp a while ago and knew i had to get it for this swap.  i'm like that.  most people won't join a swap unless they have already have something they can use.  i am about 50% of the time.  like i had the actual elf stamp.  but this one just needed to be here, too.

the past few years, i've hosted a swap at the stamp shack. the swap is a coaster calender. twelve people participate and each person chooses a month. when you get the swap back, you have a full calendar for the next year. this is my coaster for the 2011 calendar.  this has probably been my favorite.  everyone did such an awesome job.

coasters...

so what was hyped the "blizzard of 2010" was mostly a lot of hype.  which was probably not a bad thing because it got people home early and off the roads for the most part.  i guess it had the potential to be horrible, but turned out not so bad in some areas.  some bad wind and snow for a few hours and now it's just freezing cold!  so here are some more christmasy coasters to get you in the christmas spirit if it isn't freezing or snowing in your neck of the woods!

something big is a'brewing...

so apparently i live in a cave. we are getting a huge storm today and they are throwing around the "blizzard" word. a huge one at that. been in the news for days. i found out last night from a friend on facebook who lives in kentucky!! a sign i really should watch the news more often. but that's not what the big thing is that i'm talking about.

when i started this blog, it was more for me just to throw stuff out there and was a place to post pictures of my crafts (which i'm embarrassed to think were good at the time...but i guess we all have to start somewhere!) and thoughts about life. therapeutic to a point, i guess (not deep stuff...just rambling). i never realized that i would one day see my little counter in the bottom corner nearing the 40,000 mark!! holy cow! so i though i would have a little celebration in honor of that milestone.

i was lucky enough to win not one, but two contests on facebook from two of my faves: echo park and unity. i've been feeling a little guilty about this for two reasons. 1} because i won two things. 2} because they were little boy themed prizes and i have no kids.  so i wanted to pif and have someone else who would be able to put it to better use have it.

so...i have no idea when i will hit the 40K mark, but once i do, i will be giving away a prize pack that consists of  the unity stamp set in the clouds and an echo park little boy collection that matches.  would you love it???

comment on this post and once the counter turns the magic number, i'll randomly draw a winner.

here are the rules:
  • one comment per person
  • must comment on how you will use the prize
  • leave your email so i can contact you if you win
  • check back occasionally for when the magic number is hit
easy peasy.

and thanks for visiting!

peace (part 2)...

good morning!!  over the weekend it turned into winter.  it snowed probably at least 6 inches saturday night and over a foot in some areas.  so i'm happy to stay home and enjoy the h{ippity} hop today!!  the guys over at unity are hilarious and made a video demonstrating how to make some coasters.  i thought it would make a cute gift for people, so i headed to lowe's on saturday (a place i never thought about buying craft supplies!) and experimented.  i think it turned out pretty cute!  i have a few more, that i'll share tomorrow, but wanted to only show the one i made with {ippity} stamps for the hop.  check out the rest of the h{ippity} hop and have a good week..for most people it will be a short week!

ding dongs...

so i may have mentioned this before, but on wednesdays over at jessica sprauge, there are fab deals for a buck.  makes the boring midweek a little more exciting!!  yesterday, i got a few things.  cosmo cricket had two things for a buck.  one was the jolly by golly paper pack and one was the jolly by golly element pack that matched.  i love them both!  so i made this simple card that has absolutely no stamping on it.  i did try something new and used my scoring board to make the frame.  love it!  this tag cracked me up!

in the meadow...

it's h{ippity} hop monday!!  and did you know that this week, on thursday, is new release day for new {ippity} stamps!  how exciting is that??  it's a great release!  there is a sneak peek on my {ippity} blog (and also a huge sale!)  i think the card i make for the hop this week turned out much cuter than i had planned.  which is always much better than having it turn out much worse!  i bought some of the tim holtz grungeboard, oh, back in july when i went to north carolina.  i just have never played with it!  so i busted it out and experimented with it.  i first inked it up with weathered wood distress ink.  then i sparyed it was some glimmer mist.  after it was dry (with help of the s'more maker, err...heat gun) i stamped it with the cute snowman.  i like the effect.  so now go check out all the other {ippity} goodness on this week's hop and don't forget the new stamps on thursday!

winter wishes...

hello friday!!  and hello friends with flair!  i missed last week's installment of fwf because i was in indiana stamping with a fab group of friends. *sigh* but i'm back to reality this week, so i couldn't miss fwf two weeks in a row.  i feel almost guilty posting this card because it was so simple.  i think it took all of 5 minutes to do.  but i {love} it!  and the reason i {love} it is because it pairs two of my favorite companies of the moment, unity and echo park.  (i know...the both have been a fave for longer than a moment, and will for a long long time.)   which is fitting, because they partnered up this week, too!  i  used some of ep's amazing digital paper that i got from jessica sprauge (i really should be paid for my free advertising!).  i {heart} one buck wednesday over there!  and...i got the stamp free with this month's issue of paper crafts magazine (harmon's has a bunch!)  ok, enough of my gushing.  go start at the beginning of the fwf blog hop, look for the blinkie for your chance to win some free unity love, and have a great weekend!

peas...

i have had this digi stamp for probably two years.  and this year, i told myself i really needed to use it because it is so adorable!  i was so excited after i made it so i had to show someone.  my mistake was showing it to kerry.  he just doesn't get craftiness!  he looked at it and said "cute".  i said "do you get it?"  and he said "get what?"  i just shook my head and walked away.  then this weekend i showed my stamping peeps and they all appreciated it!!

i should also mention that i hate glitter.  sherri showed me this cool tinsel glitter from martha stewart.  i thought i had finally found a type of glitter (stickles don't count here...) that i could use and not hate.  well...this weekend at palooza, i made 10 of these cards.  ask anyone there.  i had a glitter melt down.  only reconfirmed the fact that i really do truly hate using glitter.  i think the hotel had glitter everywhere by the time the day was done!!

here comes santa...

wow.  seems like the weather is ready for the big guy in the red suit to come.  this is a card i made on my stamping trip to indiana.  what a great time we all had.  4 days of stamping with friends, lots of laughing and crafting.  learning new ways to roast marshmallows!  awesome!  one of the shackies posted a link on using craft ink and a watercolor pen (i used a blender pen) so you could use white ink on kraft.  i love the effect.  i used it on santa's beard (and i used it on the snow in yesterday's post).  i also {love} the jillibean soup paper!  for the twill, i just gathered it in certain spots and stapled it.

i'm such a sucker for packaging. i'm a merchandiser's dream. package something little and cute and i'm sold. you could almost convince me to buy dirt if it's in a cute package! it only makes sense that i like little cards too! i made a set of 3x3 cards to have around. i'm hoping if i start having all these finished cards hanging around that i will use them more!  you may think they look familiar.  i made a similar set here.  just wanted to use different stamps!

boo 31...

first of all...happy birthday to the cutest best mom in all the land!!

happy birthday, mom!
she rocks!!  so much that i even went to a mary kay party at her house last night.  (for those of you that know me well, you realize how big that is...even more so that i actually bought something, even if it was just lip gloss!!)

friends.with.flair.  that's what friday means to me.  along with other things.  sometimes friday means friday, sometimes it means monday.  that's what happens when you work in a 24/7 establishment.  but this week it means saturday in a way!!  fwf means lots of cool projects from peeps using unity or {ippity} goodness.  and it means some lucky person can win free stamps if them find the magic blinkie and comment!  start back here!   here's my card for this week's fwf.  you may have seen it earlier in the week on the {ippity} blog.  *sigh*  what a fun thing for me!!  hope you all have a good weekend!
