enjoy...

so might as well grab a beverage of your choice...this is going to be a long winded post!

lately, i have been venturing outside my atc/card comfort zone.  i've done a few mixed media canvases and i have loved learning new things.  my friend cindi  has been telling me about this u-stream class she has been doing.  it is tracy weinzapfel from helmarusa, doing a live craftie session every monday night.  i decided to try it out a few weeks ago and only caught it for about the last 10 minutes.  then a few days ago, i remembered it was monday.  and my hubby was watching basketball *yawn* and  it was like destiny that i go participate in this class.  (here's a link to the video if you want to watch...and you do.  it's amazing!)

so i did.  and i got totally inspired.  then i had to work the next day.

but i didn't yesterday.  so i went to michael's and got some watercolor paper and a charcoal pencil (the two things i didn't have...).  and i felt like a total nerd standing in the store because i had NO idea what to get.  and i love technology these days.  so me, being the big nerd i am, i whipped out my phone, checked out facebook and low and behold, who is online but tracy.  so i sent her a message asking her some silly questions to which she was oh so nice and willing to answer!  i got what i needed and came home to make my first "art journal".  (after stopping at the library so i could buy some old books to destroy...felt kinda bad about that!)  i put quotes around art journal because you know i have a billion journals/notebooks laying around.  but i made this one specifically to play more with this mixed media thing.  and you know i love making my own little books!

so the end of this story is coming up...this is what i created after monday night's broadcast.  i learned the coolest "drippies" technique and a few other things i had never seen before, like using a baby wipe to paint with.  who knew?  awesomely fun and easy.  i encourage you to try something that is outside of your comfort zone because you never know what you are going to find out you can do and will love!!
