breaking news!

so i think it's funny that i finished this atc on the day that canada beat the usa in overtime for the gold medal in hockey. that was breaking news! this set of atc's is for debbie's "it's a guy thing" swap. it's also another digistamp image.

digi stamps...

i am loving some of the new digital stamps that are out there. some would argue that it is simple clip art. even so...it's high quality cuteness. digistamp boutique is where i've gotten a lot of digi stamps. check them out here.

(plus they are having a great give away now...go check it out!!)

so again, another swap i joined and thought later "what did i join that for?" i've been thinking of this swap for weeks and trying to figure out what to do. when i sat down to create this atc, i had a whole other idea in my head. this is what turned out after i was done. i like this version much better than the one that was in my head! i used some cool platinum ink on my stamps and i was surprised at how well it worked.

you sparkle...

it's funny. when i make something i like to show someone the finished product. 99% of the time it's my husband. i showed him this and he just kind of wrinkled up his forehead and asked, "what do owls have to do with sparkle?" he didn't see the sentiment of the boy owl telling the girl owl she was neat! boys...sometimes they just don't get things!

fun flock tutorial...

a few people have asked what fun flock is and how to use it so i put together a very basic (and quick) tutorial to explain how to use it.

1. stamp your image. (this is my quick attempt at a shamrock using a heart stamp)

2. i use a zig 2 way glue pen for my glue. it's easy to just fill in where you want the glue with this pen and it's blue when it's wet, so you can see where you have glued. there are also glue pads out there. i've tried two kinds (one by hampton art and one by tsukineko...i didn't like how either one of them worked...there wasn't enough glue)

3. color in your area to be flocked with the glue pen.

4. apply the flock to your area with the glue. i have found it's easier to use tweezers.

it doesn't matter if you over shoot the glued area. the flock will only stick to the glue and will brush off the other areas.

5. smush down the flock onto the glued area. this will help it stick better.

6. once your glue is covered with flock, dump the flock back into it's container (like with embossing powder). there isn't a picture for that!

7. your finished product!

this was a quickie version to give you an idea. i didn't brush away the excess before i took the picture of the finished product. just experiment with it and have

cupcakes forever!

yup, i discovered some new digital stamps. this time, from hambo stamps. their rubber stamps are hilarious. so are some of their digital stamps. the atc is for stinky's "sweet treats" themed atc swap. this little guy is named wee henry. he's pretty cute.

king of the road...

another great challenge for me. i thought when i signed up for christie's swap of manly themed atcs, it would be a breeze. whatever. i found a little stamp set that would be perfect a few weeks ago. and now it is nowhere to be found. good thing it was only a dollar! so i went through my stamps and figured this one would work. i used some platinum all purpose ink by tsukineko on the trailer to give it that kind of airstream feel. i distressed the edges a bit, too.

fluffy goodness...

am i not the happiest girl in all the land? look what i discovered yesterday at heartland paper co (one of the many lss)...a four pack (yes, that's 4!) of fun flock! and what's even better than having a four pack of this fluffy goodness? the fact that it was only ninety-nine cents!! yep...a buckaroo. i picked this color for some st patty's day atcs. they had a whole slew of different color combos. AWESOME!!!

a few cards...

i've been quite the productive girl today. i did some homework, got some laundry done, finished up an atc swap and made a few sets of cards. i needed some cards that could be either thank yous, just becauses or cheer ups. i think these two can fit into any category. i love the flopsey bunny. his ears just make me smile. and if you haven't noticed, i can't get enough of the little girl from heather ellis. it's another digi stamp.

ear muffs...

i've never been much of fan of ear muffs for myself. i've seem some people wear some cute ones, but i prefer a hat. or i usually just have cold ears!! sherri is hosting an atc swap with the theme "anything with ear muffs". i found this stamp over thanksgiving and knew i had to have it.

and so it begins...

another circle journal swap, that is. this one is a summer theme. i had a hard time coming up with my cj for this theme. i knew what i wanted to do for my pages (then did something completely different as i got going!) but couldn't figure it out for the journal part. i had an idea sunday morning and just went with it. this is the result. now that i look at it, it's kind of minimalist, compared to some of my others. but i love the simplicity of it. and i can't get enough of this cute paper and stamp set from stampin up. i originally used the hemp twine to hold it together during the mailing process, but i think i may leave it once i get it back. i think it's cute!

support...

a friend from over at the stamp shack was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months ago. i hosted a breast cancer atc swap in honor of her and asked each swapper to send an extra atc so we could make a little book for merry. today was her first day of chemo and when she got home, she found her little book in the mail. what perfect timing! here is the book i put together with everyone's atcs. they all did a great job. the person who made the atc is listed below their atc. i got this idea from christie (see her's here), who originally did this for our friend lesa. lesa is now a breast cancer survivor and has an awesome program where she sends cards to those battling breast cancer. please visit her blog, little life preservers!
